Our COVID-19 protocols

Patients: We screens all patients prior to admission to determine personal travel history, potential exposure, potential contact with someone who has traveled to areas of concern, any direct contact by the patients with persons diagnosed with COVID-19, and any symptoms of illness. Those who screen positive will not be admitted to treatment. Those who screen negative will be eligible for admission.

Staff: We are committed to ensuring staff at our facilities are not infected with COVID-19 virus. Staff who have traveled to areas of concern, have been in contact with someone in these areas, have been in direct contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, or shows any signs of illness are asked to follow the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, which dictates 14 days of isolation with no symptoms from the time of contact.

Outstanding experience coming into detox at Adcare. Facility, food, cleanliness was great. From the Admission staff to detox unit , everyone was caring, compassionate, patient. No one was judgemental especially because I've been here before. Special thanks to Paula the nurse, TA Lori, Justin the nurse/TA, front desk Mary bethel and Angel. Thanks for starting me on my journey in Recovery. I'm feeling hopeful and grateful. Thank you also toTaylor for his enthusiasm and encouragement. Thank you to Scott for walking me through my discharge plans and appointments.

I, Tara Mahan am using James Kelley's google account because I can't log into mine at this time. My time here at the facility has way beyond exceeded my expectations!!!! From the moment I walked in the door I was met with so much kindness and respect. The doctor and nurses took great care of me and knew exactly what I needed and made me very comfortable in an uncomfortable situation that I caused myself to be in. The groups were also great and I got a lot out of each one I attended. When it came to placement, Jim Kelley went out of his way to put me where I wanted to go. Even though, in the beginning I said I didn't care where I went, when I was told I got a bed somewhere, I then changed my mind and denied that placement. So, instead of being frustrated with me, he did whatever it was he had to do to get me a bed where I so badly wanted to go at Independence Hall. I am so grateful for everything he has done to me and probably forever grateful because I really am serious this time about my sobriety and holding on tight to it. My experience here has been amazing and I'll always have nothing but great memories of Adcare Hospital. Thank you so much from the bottom of my sober heart!!!!!

The staff are wonderful. Many, if not most, are former substance abusers so they have a deeper understanding of the condition. Detox wasn't easy but the staff are absolutely wonderful about individual needs. Read all of the good reviews. Some areas for improvement are: FOOD. The meals are high in fat and carbs. The snacks are saltines, graham crackers, bagels, toast, apples, oranges, sometimes bananas, and popsicles. That's what you get. No vending machines. No soda or seltzer water. Lemonade and another beverage, water, coffee and tea. Special dietary needs are NOT met by the cafeteria. Not sure where the miscommunication lies. Also, once out of detox, you have about 20 minutes to eat ( subtracting walking to the cafeteria and going through the line). You are not allowed to bring anything back to the unit from the cafeteria so if you are unable to wolf your food down in that time you are out of luck. Staffing: very understaffed. Sometimes a single nurse covers detox, and both residential units. This has led to missed medications. The nurses are fantastic but they are over worked and understaffed. Laundry: keep your wash cloths and fitted sheets because there aren't enough to go around. Apparently the laundry service isn't very organized and sends our linen to other clients. Rules: in place for a reason but are not consistent between the units or the staff members. Little variety and availability in snack choices. Activities: There are very few books and craft supplies so I'm between groups there is very little to do the few things they do have are missing pieces of the paint bottles are empty. Do better. Be aware that you will be very bored unless you bring books. Information: The people on the phone who got you here are not knowledgeable of the facilities they promote. Be aware that anything you bring must be unopened in original packaging. Just because it passed TSA does not mean you can have it at Adcare. Adcare: please staff adequately. Please encourage all staff, from department directors to TAs to remember that this is rehab, not jail. Lose the controlling attitudes. A little understanding that we are in a tiny box with little to do for a month. A little empathy goes a long way. Thanks to the wonderful counselors, Francis, Briana, Karen for being compassionate and caring. Francis is a new counselor here and a wonderful asset to the facility. He is in tune with the clients and makes group sessions accordingly. Scott, the case manager, works hard to ensure a sound discharge plan and is also a great resource during your stay. Marybeth, Lauren, Jessa, Sabrina,Linda, Sharon, were wonderful, kind and made the stay much more tolerable. I've never been to rehab before but if I had to do it over again I would choose Adcare. I focused on the rooms for improvement because I wish I'd known. But this place is everything I needed it to be.

I've been to over 10 detoxes and nothing was working until I entered AdCare. AdCare is a great facility with an amazing staff who actually cares about their patients. I am extremely happy with my counselor Hanako and my case manager Scott. Both have helped me immensely throughout this process. I look forward to wrapping up this program and for my future sober life.
